Working for Lumos
Supporter Care Officer
Named after the light-giving spell in Harry Potter, Lumos is an international children’s organisation founded by J.K. Rowling in 2005. We have a bold mission: to have a world without institutions and orphanages by 2050. Research shows the dramatic harm that institutional care causes to children and the proven benefits of the alternatives: community and family care. Lumos tackles the root causes of family separation – poverty, trafficking and discrimination – and transforms care systems around the world. We speak up on behalf of children trapped in institutions and reunite them with their families. And we change education, health and social care systems so every child can thrive.
Reporting into the Director of Philanthropy, the Supporter Care Officer will support the Fundraising Team to grow and manage Lumos’ income and engagement with supporters efficiently and effectively, supporting all income generation projects and strategies across the team implementing best practice supporter care. This post will include oversight and management of supporter journeys through our Salesforce database to maximise income and engagement from Lumos supporters. This post will also be supporting and developing tailored journeys, systems and processes to enable the efficient and effective management of current and new donors to maximise their lifetime value to Lumos.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently and as part of a team on larger projects in a dynamic environment with often changing priorities. The post holder must have good written, interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to work with a wide variety of contacts.
Experience of donor facing community-based fundraising activities and approaches and tailored approaches to income generation is essential for the role.
The supporter Care Officer must have experience of negotiating, managing contracts and liaising with suppliers and supporting and developing internal processes, including manipulating data and reports and queries on a fundraising database. The post holder will be required to have the ability to advise on the potential usage of existing and emerging technologies for fundraising purposes and be able to advise on Charity Commission and Institute of Fundraising requirements for fundraising activity and keep abreast of new guidelines and legislation.

Right to Work:
If you do not already have the right to work in the UK, please think carefully before applying. This is because even if the role is sufficiently skilled to qualify for sponsorship, we will be unable to sponsor you if there is a suitably qualified settled worker available to fill the role (this is known as the ‘resident labour market test’) unless you are currently in the UK and your immigration status and qualifications mean that the resident labour market test will not apply in your case.
Lumos is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and criminal records checks where legally permitted.
