Working for Lumos
Chief Executive Officer
This vacancy has now expired, and is not accepting any new applications. p>
It all started with a photograph in a newspaper. When, in June 2004, J.K. Rowling saw the black and white image of a small boy – isolated, locked away from the world, far from his family and placed in an institution – she couldn’t look away. Starting in Moldova, Lumos was established to develop capacity in countries to eradicate harmful institutions and orphanages and ensure children will grow up in loving, nurturing, protective families. We now operate in 12 countries and since 2009, Lumos has prevented over 24,000 children from entering harmful institutions by redirecting funds toward community-based solutions.
This is a fantastic opportunity to lead our development, growth and global impact. Working with our partners in the UK, Europe, South America and Africa, you will support our policy and advocacy work and training programmes. As the CEO of an organisation ambitious to improve the lives of young people, you will develop our culture and ethos on child and youth participation.
We have a small but passionate and dynamic team. We are seeking a strong, courageous, inspiring and empowering leader who is ambitious to help influence the conditions where institutionalisation can be eradicated and help more young lives. We want to meet potential CEOs who passionately share this vision and are eager to promote it. You will need the interpersonal and communication skills to lead major partnerships and stakeholders across national and international governments, voluntary and commercial sectors and relish the opportunity to talk to young people and their families.
