Working for Lumos
Proposal and Bid Manager
This is an exceptional opportunity for a strategic bid manager who can lead and execute high-value proposals of £100,000 and above. Our goal is to transform the lives of children around the world. Your goal will be shape and drive fundraising across process, practice and performance.
Lumos is an international non-governmental, non-profit organisation founded by J.K. Rowling. Our vision is of a world where all children have the opportunity to grow up and thrive in loving, nurturing, protective families. We believe that children belong in families not orphanages and we aim to achieve our vision by 2050. We will do this by casting light onto the causes of institutionalisation and producing high-quality, compelling evidence of our long term, sustainable solutions.
he challenge, of course, is to maintain our momentum through funding and donations. As our Proposal & Bid Manager, you will lead the development of high-quality, bespoke and engaging proposals for trusts and foundations, corporates, philanthropic and institutional donors. This is very much an insight-led approach. You will research opportunities, plan strategy, then write and lead on the production of a wide range of complex, multi-thematic, global and multi-regional proposals. Through a commitment to continuous improvement, you will build on best practice and liaise with senior management to advise on the internal systems, policies and processes required to develop the team and deliver success. You will also work closely with the Head of Grants to identify and capitalise on new opportunities.
For us, this is certainly a role where you can lead, drive insight, shape ways of working and think creatively about how you grow our success. So it demands a very clear skill set. A proven track record of leading a high-performance team in the development and delivery of high-value proposals is absolutely vital. You must have the vision and strategic capability to understand complexity, identify opportunities and build out the systems and frameworks needed to improve performance in bidding and reporting. A strongly entrepreneurial approach to fundraising is important, supported by real initiative, drive and independence. An understanding of child’s rights and deinstitutionalisation programmes would be ideal.
